Flight Physics EngineerSalisbury6 month contractMy client is on a recruitment drive and is looking for Flight Physics Engineers - There are Engineer, Senior Engineer and Principal Engineer positions available.

Purpose of Job

To conduct safe and effective Flight Physics evaluations which may include ground and flight tests on aircraft and associated systems and provide specialist technical advice in line with customer requirements.Knowledge, skills and personal qualities required:Good to in-depth understanding of Flight Physics principles and concepts and a basic knowledge of other disciplines and how Flight Physics integrates with those disciplinesAbility to make technical judgements based on the analysis of Flight Physics informationAbility to apply Flight Physics principles and concepts to a range of workEngineer Position: Typically 3-6 years post-graduation Flight Physics experience, preferably in advice, research and consultancyGenerally unsupervisedBasic commercial awarenessSenior Engineer Position: Typically 6-8 years post-graduation Flight Physics experience, preferably in advice, research and consultancyTypically leading more complex work or mentoring/leading small teamsSound commercial awarenessPrincipal Engineer Position: Typically 9-12 years post-graduation Flight Physics experience, preferably in advice, research and consultancyExperience of managing a team of professionalsIn-depth commercial awarenessLead of very complex work or mentoring/leading of large teamsKnowledge of technical governanceWhere appropriate, knowledge of airworthiness and safety assessmentTechnical understanding of the air vehicle life cycle

Challenges:Working within a specialist technical team with new ways of workingSupporting the close working between specialist disciplines during the assessment of complex integrated aerospace systemsKey Accountabilities:Delivering Flight Physics specialist technical advice, research and consultancy tasks in line with the customer requirementCompleting specific specialist technical activitiesAppropriately utilising technical processes, methods and tools within the specialist area to deliver tasksSupporting the specialist technical interface Supporting the engineering and technical interface with customers and suppliers when required for the specialist areaWorking as an integrated part of a delivery streamBehavioural Requirements:Sound and comprehensive communication and diplomacy skillsAble to stand behind judgementAble to mentor less experienced staffGood team playerAbility to work well under pressureSenior Engineer and Principal Engineer: Where appropriate, able to mentor or lead a team effectivelyEssential Qualifications:A degree in aerospace or an equivalent blend of qualification and/or experienceDesirable Qualifications:For Engineer position: membership of a relevant professional bodyFor Senior and Principal Engineer position: full membership of a relevant professional bodyCustomer interface experience in an aerospace organisationIf you feel you would be suitable, please send in your CV
