This is a contract role suitable for a plant-focused process development chemist or a process engineer experienced in synthetic reaction chemistry.

Role Summary:

* Assist with the development and improvement of robust chemical batch manufacturing processes.

* Responsible for preparing Technology Transfer packages for new product introductions plants or Tollers then monitoring and supporting commissioning. Supports the introduction of new processes to the Kirkby plant.

* Identifies critical-to-quality processing steps and works with plant personnel to define best practice enabling recipe development using the Siemens DCS system.

* Improve throughput by eliminating testing from processes which are shown to be robust. Recommends addition of QC steps where timely adjustment can prevent rework.

* Defines correction routines, standard DCS recipe-steps for the correction of off-spec or non-conforming batches.

* Uses Organic Chemistry expertise to address production problems.

* Interfacing with SMEs and Production Operators alike to ensure that we deliver what we designed.

* Special projects as assigned.

* Any other duties as required

Qualifications/Requirements:

* Higher Education in Chemistry or Chemical Engineering discipline

* Experience of batch recipe development using DCS

* Experience of chemical synthesis within a manufacturing environment.

* Experience in troubleshooting Manufacturing processes

* Experience in chemical process development

* Knowledge of synthetic organic chemistry and analytical techniques

* Knowledge of scale-up and large-scale batch processing

* Knowledge of chemical process safety

* Excellent communication skills; able to interact with senior managers and plant operators.
