Job Title - Lead Data Scientist Salary - R100k - 130k Plus benefitsJob Type - Permanent - Full TimeLocation: Cresta, Gauteng (100% remote for covid) Start date -ASAPThe OpportunityThis is an amazing opportunity for someone who has experience taking a proactive approach who will support operations, leadership and sales teams with insights gained from analyzing company data. The ideal candidate is adept at using large data sets to find opportunities for product and process optimization and using models to test the effectiveness of different courses of action. They must have strong experience using a variety of data mining/data analysis methods, using a variety of data tools, building and implementing models, using/creating algorithms and creating/running simulations. You must have a proven ability to drive business results with their data-based insights.The right candidate will have a passion for discovering solutions hidden in large data sets and working with stakeholders to improve business outcomes. This is a unique opportunity available on the market as we are looking to build a team from scratch and for the right candidate have the potential of heading up the entire department and build the team around them.To apply for this role you must have: Post Graduate Degree/Diploma (Highly Recommended)Working Knowledge of MS SQL Querying - (Highly Recommended)Advanced use MS Excel formulae - (Required)Experience using statistical computer languages (R, Python, SQL, etc.) to manipulate data and draw insights from large data setsKnowledge of a variety of machine learning techniques (clustering, decision tree learning, artificial neural networks, etc.) and their real-world advantages/drawbacksKnowledge of advanced statistical techniques and concepts (regression, properties of distributions, statistical tests and proper usage, etc.) and experience with applications.Experience working in the financial or debt collection industry/sector is highly advantageous.Responsibilities:Work with stakeholders throughout the organization to identify opportunities for leveraging company data to drive business solutions.Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of product development, marketing techniques and business strategies.Assess the effectiveness and accuracy of new data sources and data gathering techniques.Develop custom data models and algorithms to apply to data sets.Coordinate with different functional teams to implement models and monitor outcomesDevelop processes and tools to monitor and analyze model performance and data accuracyKey Competencies:An analytic mind and inclination for problem-solvingAttention to detailExperience in data models and reporting packagesAbility to analyse large data-setsAbility to write comprehensive reportsKnowledge/experience on/with statistical programming languages, including R, Python, SQQ, etc., to process data and gain insights from itImpulse to learn and master new technologiesStrong problem solving skills with an emphasis on product developmentWe are looking to move quickly on these positions, therefore we recommend to start your application by sending your CV to the below email address.Alternatively if you would like more details please feel free to get in touch providing your contact number to [email protected] for an informal chat about the role.
