Systems Software Developer

Coda Octopus designs, manufactures, sells and support, systems and software for the marine- survey, construction and security industries.

We are currently looking for a C++ Software Developer to work in a team developing application software for sonar and geophysical products. The applications are written in C++ and include graphics, database and GIS functionality.

The position is full-time.

Ideally you will have a BSc Hon's - First Class or 2:1 in Software Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Maths and Computing, or other Engineering discipline and have extensive C++ with 5 or more years' experience of commercial software development.

You will possess excellent interpersonal skills and must have the ability to work well within a team.

You will have problem solving and creativity skills, honesty and integrity, an eagerness to learn and a high level of personal motivation, drive and energy. Previous experience of working within an agile software development team would be beneficial, although not essential.

Additional experience, in preferential order, of any of the following would be an advantage: C++ (Embarcadero), User Interface design (Dev Express), database development (SQL Server), S.O.L.I.D design principles, GIS (Tatuk), Graphics including matrices/geometry/DirectX, Dev Ops.

Duties will include:

  • Work with an agile development team using Azure DevOps.
  • Software development including architectural design in C++
  • Improve software quality by implementing Unit Tests.
  • Software profiling to ensure optimal performance under heavy work load.
  • Working with the team to ensure an application provides a good User Experience.
  • Integrating and testing the application software with our family of products.
  • Provide ongoing support to existing Coda Octopus software including development and maintenance across our family of products.
  • Assist in creation of documentation such as user manuals, knowledge base articles, training material.
  • Mentor other developers
  • Salary will be competitive and dependent on experience.
