Network Engineer CoventryContract until March 2021£249 per day PAYE Role Summary The clients network engineers are responsible for designing, implementing, monitoring and managing the local and wide area networks for the company to ensure maximum uptime for users. The role involves designing system configurations, documenting and managing the installation of new networks, and maintaining and upgrading existing networks as necessary. Core Responsibilities Maintaining and administering WAN/LAN/WLAN networks and related computing and VOIP environments including systems software, applications software, hardware, and configurations.Proactive management of network incidents and service requests via ServiceNow and email.Performing network disaster recovery operations and data backups when required.Protecting data, software, and hardware by coordinating, planning and implementing network security measures including monitoring and maintenance of Fortinet firewalls.Troubleshooting, diagnosing and resolving network hardware, software, and other network and system problems.Replacing faulty network hardware components when required.Monitoring network performance to determine if adjustments need to be made.Working with network vendors to deliver best performance and escalation of vendor issues.Working across functional teams to solving existing system problems as the network SME.Operating Solarwinds to monitor the performance of networks and computer systems.Coordinating computer network access and use through Cisco ISE.Designing, configuring and testing networking software, hardware, and operating system software (Cisco IOS). Primary working relationships & interfaces Infrastructure team.Service delivery team.Procurement team.Internal customers.3rd party service providers. Skills, Knowledge and Abilities: Bachelor degree in Information Technology related field of study with a network engineering focus or equivalent experience.Cisco CCNA/CCNP or equivalent experience.Fortinet NSE or equivalent experience.Solarwinds or other network monitoring tool experience.Strong understanding of network infrastructure and network hardware.Ability to implement, administer, and troubleshoot network infrastructure devices, including wireless access points, firewall, routers, switches, wireless controllers and VOIP platforms.Knowledge of application transport and network infrastructure protocols.Ability to create accurate network diagrams and documentation for design and planning network communication systems.Provides specific detailed information for hardware and software selection.Ability to quickly learn new or unfamiliar technology and products using documentation and internet resources.Ability to work with all levels of staff within and outside of IT and outside the organisation.A self-starter able to work independently but comfortable working in a team environment.Good analytical and problem-solving skills.Dependable and flexible when necessary.LAN, WAN, WLAN, VOIP, Network Security operations and design experience.
