Software Development

*Works on the technical implementation of applications and technical designs including producing cost and timescale estimates and identifying risks. On larger projects works within a technical framework of the project to meet customer requirements.

*Software development using both recognised and/or specialist programming languages and technologies

*Unit Testing of developed applications

*Technical planning within the team

*Mentoring junior developers

*Working collaboratively supporting and learning from team members

*Conduct code reviews for quality assurance

Application Support

*System support

*Input into Major Incident and Problem Management processes

*Data identification and provisioning

*Continuous Improvement and defect fixes

Essential experiences:

*Application stack knowledge - with experience in Java 7 (and previous versions), Scala, EJB, JDBC, XML, WSDL, JSP, HTML, JavaScript, Struts, Weblogic Application Server, Weblogic Workshop, Oracle, SQL, MongoDB, Dropwizard and Play Framework (minimum 2 years)

*Mainframe knowledge - with experience in Natural, N2O, JCL, Rexx, Adabas, TSO, ISPF, Clist, CICS, TWS, MQ, EntireX, RPC service creation, Cobol, Assembler, FP Printing, FTP and sFTP (minimum 2 years)

*Development/Build tools - with experience in Eclipse IDE, NaturalONE, Ant, Maven, Jenkins, Puppet, Docker, Drone, Kubernetes, Cloud technologies, Source Control Management systems including Clearcase and Git (minimum 2 years)

*Experience in mentoring Developers

*Experience in system support and continuous improvement

*Strong analytical skills

*Excellent written communication skills including reports, and technical specifications

*Ability to communicate effectively to customers at all levels of the business

Desirable:

*Experience of working within an agile system development methodology particularly Scrum

*Ability to understand and assess business and operational requirements, architectural goals and constraints (minimum 2 years)
