Principal Software Engineer Remote UK Working to £85k

Principal Software Engineer / Lead (C# .Net Core Azure APM) *Remote Work UK*. Are you seeking a technically challenging role where you can make an impact?

Global Foreign Exchange provider is seeking a technologist Principal Software Engineer with a love of problem solving to take ownership of Systems Reliability Engineering and Application Performance Management; this is a senior hands-on position in which you will build a team around you and help shape the technical direction of the organisation going forward.

As a Principal Software Engineer you will build the team and systems to ensure the provision of stable and reliable, secure, fault tolerant systems. You'll partner with other technology leaders to shape best practice and lead the investigation of complex technical issues across a broad range of in-house developed components, organising a team of engineers across teams to implement the software changes required to ensure stability.

You'll lead and formulate the strategy to evolve and mature the APM capability and become the guardian of overall systems performance including proactive monitoring and profiling as well as performance testing prior to new releases. You'll introduce improvements and innovations to drive development best practice to reduce production issues and hold teams accountable for fixing issues they have introduced, making improvements to the CI/CD pipelines and release management processes to enable fast, frequent and safe deployments.

As a senior member of the technology team you'll collaborate and contribute to the architectural design of this evolving cloud based microservices platform on a global scale.

Requirements:

You have a wealth of software engineering experience with C# .Net Core and the .Net framework

You have a depth of experience deploying and managing workloads on Azure

You have a strong knowledge of APM, monitoring, alerting and diagnostic tools e.g. Application Insights (which they currently are using); AppDynamics, New Relic, Dynamotrace or Datadog

You have experience of designing and building fault tolerant systems

You have a passion for problem solving and troubleshooting complex issues

You are commercially mindful, product focussed and understand the end effect of what you do

You have a broad range of knowledge outside the .Net stack and are able to assess and recommend the best tool for the job

You're collaborative, pragmatic and have excellent communication skills
