Role: Lead Systems EngineerLocation: Bristol - predominantly remote workingDuration: Initially until 31st March 2021 - extension likelyRate: Negotiable on experienceSecurity Clearance: SC or DV Our client are looking to expand the Project Team to enable the delivery of the next generation of Tactical Communication & Information Systems (CIS). Battlefield and Tactical CIS (BATCIS) is responsible for the development, fielding and sustainment of a range of tactical CIS equipment and systems used in the joint Land Environment. The BATCIS portfolio includes the communications system itself, the application set, the Common Battlefield Applications Toolset (ComBAT), and the Information Systems.This role is for the Lead Systems Engineer on the BATCIS DSA Project. The role combines leadership/management of technical delivery with engineering consultancy in the military tactical radio domain. Through the application of technical, engineering and leadership expertise, the individual will shape the ongoing delivery approach for DSA. ManagementTo lead and manage a small team of project engineers to produce outputs and deliverables in line with the project schedule.Assisting the Project Manager with the development of the technical delivery, procurement and design solutions via partners across industry and MoD.Engaging with customers, stakeholders, suppliers, and other technical disciplines to help develop an appropriate understanding of the problem and to form the bases of viable solutions.Work with the Design and Integration Partner (DIP) to develop and deliver the technical strategy for the assessment phase of the project.Identifying project / technical delivery risks and deriving mitigations in collaboration with the wider team.ExperienceLeadership and management.Application of systems engineering to different domains.KnowledgeDifferent systems engineering methods, their applicability, and effect.Business/enterprise impact and dependencies of work.Working knowledge of the acquisition CADMID cycle.Understanding of Security Domains.CapabilitiesGood problem-solving ability through the application of conceptual, creative and innovative thinking.Ability to communicate effectively with people at all levels.Strong written communication skills.Specific Domain Knowledge of:Military CIS.Communications systems, sub-systems and technologies.Military concepts and doctrine.Software development lifecycle (SDLC).Mobile technology.QualificationsBSc in Engineering or equivalent knowledge and work experience.Chartered Engineer or equivalent.To apply please send your CV's in the first instance.
