Technical Author: Aviation Standards Technical Author: Aviation Standards The work location is based in Boscombe Down 12 Month Contract Pay rate is between £30/£45 per hour Candidate must hold or be willing and eligible to undergo SC Clearance Specific Responsibilities:To be part of a team of Technical Authors, ensuring the provision of high quality publications to support those installing, modifying, operating, maintaining, repairing and removing equipment.To provide internal and external customers with support documentation in accordance with Technical Publications procedure, Military publications MAP-01/MAP-02 and Civil publications ASD S1000D and ATA iSpec2200.Advise members of the department on aspects of technical publications and ensuring that best practices are adhered to.Ensure that the work of the department meets customers' specifications, Airworthiness requirements and publications standards of the Military and Civilian, MAP 01 / MAP 02, JSP(D)543 and S1000D.Ensure that reliable and timely estimates are submitted in support of bidsContinued development and improvement of performance and capability in the area of responsibility. Knowledge, skills and Personal Qualities Required:Familiarity with Technical PublicationsA qualified aircraft, mechanical or electrical/avionic engineer or an equivalent level of know-how gained through experienceAble to work autonomouslyGood communication, interpersonal and people management skillsA general knowledge of aircraft equipment, systems and documentationCompetence in the use of Microsoft Word and ability to acquire competence in new publication editing packages.Competence in the use of a graphics package such as Adobe Photoshop, for the manipulation of bitmap graphics and jpeg imagesCompetence in the capture of digital images using digital camera and/or scanners. Key Accountabilities:Accountable to the Technical Publications Manager or Team Leader.Ensure that the work of the department meets customers' specifications airworthiness requirements and publications standardsCompliant with corporate policies, AEC proceduresHealth and Safety legislationMAP 01 & MAP 02Compliance with Civil Aviation standards (ATA 100, EASA Pt.21J).
