Senior Network Engineer Lancaster My client are embarking on one of the largest Network transformations in the UK and are in need of a Senior Network Support Engineer to take full ownership of a brand new network.The ideal candidate will oversee the development, deployment and operational management off the network and associated systems and the fundamental responsibility for the position is to design and implement core network architecture to support up to 100,000 customers nationwide.The Senior Network Engineer will work closely with the senior leadership and wider field engineer and be accountable for the network scale up as well as the following duties:Responsibilities/Experience Design and implement core network architecture, scaling up from IPV4 to IPV6. (Design experience is not essential but desirable, training and development will be provided on the job)Strong experience with routing and WAN. Ideally experienced with Juniper based networking, however relevant knowledge/experience with other vendors such as Cisco would be consideredManage network traffic levels and distribution network devicesDiagnose root causes of network issues using analytical and problem-solving skillsFamiliar with various routing protocols, e.g. BGP, OSPF, EIGRPFamiliarity with DDos protection and firewall rules to protect the network infrastructureGeneral network support and maintenanceWork with senior leadership in selecting and implementing relevant technologiesLiaise with relevant datacentre providers and respond to critical incidents, keeping network border points operationalCCNP / JNCIP or a similar / relevant level of industry experienceBe willing to be involved in an on call rota and travel as part of the role, company vehicle will be provided for travel.This role requires someone who is as comfortable at their desk as being out in the field.
