An exciting opportunity for a Digital Distribution/Revenue Management professional to join the Data Acquisition team at a world leading agency.
About the UK Hydrographic Office (UKHO)
UKHO is an executive agency, sponsored by the Ministry of Defence. We work with a wide range of data partners to chart the world's oceans in order to develop and serve world leading software and data solutions to commercial shipping companies, navies and maritime organisations. Our products (found on over 90% of ships trading internationally) ensure safe navigation and global trade efficiency and support other marine activities including economic development, environmental protection, resource exploration and utilisation, scientific research and security and defence.
The role
The Data Acquisition team are responsible for obtaining our 'raw material' (the data and the permissions) our business needs to carry out our core and secondary tasks as a Marine Geospatial Information Agency and a Hydrographic Office. This involves partnering with commercial operations and international cross government bodies, including the International Centre for Electronic Navigational Charts (IC-ENC), a collection of Electronic Navigational Chart (ENC) Producers working together to improve ENC quality and availability.
As the IC-ENC Assistant Distribution Manager, you will be responsible for providing distribution and revenue management services for the 45 worldwide members of the IC-ENC. Specifically this will involve:
Working collaboratively with the IC-ENC Data Providers (usually Hydrographic Offices) and Distribution companies. You will be the bridge between these two groups - international government offices on one hand, and commercial operators on the other.
Providing a robust revenue management service, including generating sales reports, issuing quarterly reports to IC-ENC members and settlement of payments.
Taking responsibility for the day-to-day account and relationship management of appointed distribution companies including auditing and handling queries relating to new initiatives, conflict resolution, and general licensing.
Being a source of support, advice and opinion to the IC-ENC Distribution Manager, to others in the IC-ENC team, the UKHO and other Hydrographic Offices.
What we are looking for
Key to this role will be your knowledge and understanding of distribution methods of digital data/products, combined with financial and business acumen (including an appreciation of auditing). A core part of this role is managing relationships, therefore strong communication and influencing skills are required as is the ability to make effective decisions.
In return
UKHO is a great place in which to explore your career potential. While our projects are career-defining, the work/life balance that we can offer you is equally exceptional. From flexitime, flexible working, an award-winning office environment and a generous annual leave allowance of 34.5 days including public holidays, the opportunities open to you here are hard to beat.
