Technical Software Developer

This is a new role working for an amazing business that provide IT solutions to the key players in the UK's defence sector.

This position will play a key role in the support of a variety of innovative, accreditable, cost efficient and profitable solutions which comply with HMG's security classification system. These solutions are operated at the company's premises in Cheshire and are the foundation for the Company's secure managed ICT services to MoD and other public-sector customers.

The role encompasses the following key areas to meet the Company's agreed strategic objectives:

Software Development:Play a key role in design, installation, testing and maintenance of software systems. Responsible for writing and coding individual programs or providing an entirely new software resource. Systems Maintenance:Maintenance of internal monitoring toolsets and customer facing web portals ensuring clean and efficient code is maintained. Testing and deploying new software components to optimise managed service delivery. Responsibilities:

Software Development

Reviewing current systems and presenting new ideas for system improvements

Work closely with design and delivery engineering staff to produce detailed specifications and writing software

Testing products in controlled, real situations before go-live

Preparation of training manuals and maintenance of systems once in service

Work with Developers to design algorithms Systems Maintenance

Troubleshoot, de-bug and upgrade existing software programs

Create technical documentation for reference and reporting

Integrate software components and 3rd party programs.

Assisting in system testing and validation procedures, consulting with customers or departments on project status. Qualifications:

Ideal applicants will have a Computer Science Degree or related qualification. Skills:

An excellent technical knowledge of C#

An understanding of Agile software development methodology

Additional desirable skills include knowledge of:

Desirable - Python

Java and PHP scripting

C++ knowledge

Web Development

Experience in Visual Studio

Github

Networking (Switching, Routing etc..)

Security (Firewalls, IDS etc..)

OS ("Windows, Windows Server & Linux")

Applications & Services (Active Directory, Messaging & Collaborative Software) Qualities and Experience The ability to develop trusted relationships.A commitment to continually developing technical skills in emerging technologies.Ability to work independently and pro-activity.Good problem-solving skills.Good communication skills with the ability to influence and negotiate both internally and externally.Willingness to work flexibly in response to changing organisational requirements.Ability to obtain the appropriate Security Clearance.
