About the role Defence Systems Technology - Mission Systems is a Business Unit that is looking to increase its revenue substantially over the next 5 years. In particular, Complex Assets, Air Defence and Missiles (AD&M) is looking to grow substantially to meet this business strategy. The opportunities pipeline is showing that there is a need to recruit Senior Field Engineers to meet current and future demand.

What do I need to do the role? The role will require a self-starter, who is able to work both autonomously and as part of a team and in some instances leading the team.

The Senior Field Engineer will provide engineering expertise in the areas of installation, commissioning, trials, calibrations for the assigned project and will be responsible for undertaking all the annual and routine engineering tasks within the assigned projects.

What else do I need to know? * Significant experience as an external communications Senior Field Engineer * Configuration of network components * UHF / RF / LF / VLF / SHF / VHF or similar * Trials / Factory acceptance * IP / TCP IP / OSI * Interface / Integrate equipment * Legacy interfaces / Conversion * Trial documentation * Test cases / test scenarios * Risk assessment / Method statements * Cisco configuration (Desirable, not essential) * Diagnostic ability to fault find in network type systems * Preparing and presenting the installation, setting to work and acceptance of systems to an Accepting Authority, inclusive of trial documentation from Test Plans through to Test Reports. * Experience in providing training to system maintainers.

Qualifications * Technically qualified to a degree or HNC level in their discipline (Electrical / Electronic / Engineering)

Grade This position is within the DST business unit as a Grade 5 which has a salary of £36,525 with DRDL Terms and Conditions.
