Head of Technology Contract: Permanent

We service a number of international private businesses within shipping, real estate, energy, banking and investments and our team are based across New York and London. In this key leadership role, you will: Have strategic and operational accountability for ensuring optimal performance of the technical IT estate Own the technology stack (on premise and cloud) and draw on your advanced domain expertise to define and successfully deliver the technology strategy, ensuring a future focus and alignment with the strategic objectives of the client businesses Maintain a progressive outlook on the relevant trends in IT technology with specific focus on data - storage and analytics, infrastructure virtualisation, cloud migration and service delivery Key Responsibilities Ensuring the technology operating model aligns with the strategic vision and adapts to changing external and internal factors Defining the technology solution and environment roadmaps to ensure capacity and scalability, as demand and usage evolve within the business. This will be obtained through having visibility and understanding of the entire technology landscape Leading the secure replacement of the on-premise legacy estate Ensuring that systems are architected to be secure and resilient through the effective application of security and Business Continuity principles Put in place the right people, processes and technology to deliver strategic and operational goals Providing leadership, coaching and direction to the technology team Accountable for ensuring the relevant technical expertise is sourced and leveraged as part of the incident management process Liaising with key IT partners to quantify and communicate the impacts, trade-offs, risks, costs, benefits and opportunities of IT solutions Providing strategic direction and oversight for the design, development, operation and support of technology systems Leads the evaluation of new technology and makes recommendations on technological solutions based on factors such as cost/benefit, risk, ease of adoption, etc. Consistently evaluates technical efficiency and drives changes as necessary Promotes a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence and to be a role model to help achieve this Managing and maintaining the asset catalogue Provide regular progress reports to the CIO Your Professional Experience and Skills: Deep understanding and technical proficiency: On-premise infrastructure solutions and best practices in Virtualisation & Replication: (VMware / SAN / NAS / Veeam / Zerto) Cloud services, architecture & design: Azure / M365 / SharePoint / Intune / SolarWinds / Mimecast and Networking & Security (Switches / WAPS / Firewalls) Proven track record in infrastructure simplification, transformation and enterprise strategy Advanced domain knowledge in enterprise architecture management, application management, M365 platform and solutions architecture, infrastructure and operations support management Proven expertise and successful track record in delivering complex technology programmes in a hybrid on-premise / Cloud environment which includes at least one of the "big 3" public Cloud providers (AWS, Azure or GCP) Experience working in the shipping industry, proxy industries such as trading, supply chain, oil and gas, or with automation systems would be an advantage Successful track record in dealing with a broad set of activities across a broad stakeholder group whilst managing ambiguity and pressure well Proven track record of leading a team that is cohesive and focused on providing the highest standards of delivery Exceptional leadership skills with the ability to develop and communicate the technology strategy that inspires and motivates your team and our clients The ability to rapidly assimilate information, culture and process to bring to maximum effect in a short space of time. Logical thinker with a strong analytical background and good attention to detail Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to speak to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, and prepare written reporting and presentational content with level-appropriate messaging up to executive level Qualifications BSc in Information Technology or equivalent 10 years+ relevant infrastructure or enterprise architecture experience TOGAF (or equivalent)
