Job Description

We have a new opportunity for an experienced Software Engineer to join the Software Assurance team. Supporting Software delivery across multiple projects, you will be part of a team that provides an Independent Technical Assessment of the software of safety critical/related aircraft systems and provide advice on airworthiness issues related to those systems. You will lead the assessment of third-party software and/or software documentation for adequate safety and conformance to standards.

You will ensure the accuracy and quality of Technical Advice to ensure the successful delivery of technical output to time, cost and quality for our global clients.

Within this diverse and technically challenging role, you will apply military and/or civil standards for software safety to provide accurate and trusted technical assurance to the wider team.

The Fit

We are either looking for an experienced technical assessor or someone looking to move into this field from a software engineering role. Your strong communication skills will enable you to construct and convey logical arguments effectively whilst your analytical skills will allow you to conduct analysis in a pragmatic and effective way.

This is a varied and challenging role that will require the successful candidate to deliver results against defined deadlines and show pragmatism in the judgement of software integrity and the determination of an adequate level of evidence. In return you will receive excellent support and training, developing your broad technical knowledge to enable you to confidently provide the technical assurance that the projects require.

The successful candidate will have previous experience across all phases of the software development lifecycle with a desire to learn software assessment or has previous experience. Experience of providing technical assurance in the software domain would be advantageous and some knowledge of military / civil standards for software safety would be desirable but not essential. With a passion for IT, you will be able to demonstrate an ability to work well within a dynamic and fast paced environment which offers strong career progression.

Essential Qualifications

  • An Honours Degree in a Software or Safety Engineering discipline, or equivalent professional qualifications and experience

Desirable Qualifications

  • Postgraduate Qualification in Software or Safety Engineering disciplines
  • Membership of relevant professional body
