Contract Opportunity: Server Engineer (IT Operations Engineer)

Location: Den Haag Netherlands (Non-Remote)

Duration: 100+ days

Technical Expertise:

Qualifications

*Significant operating systems administration experience (Windows, Linux)

*Significant experience in virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V, …)

*Significant experience with software related to server's management (backups, quotas, …)

*Experience in scripting (shells, Visual Basic, Perl, Python, …)

Experience

*Minimum 4 years of experience as IT Engineer

*At least 7 years' experience in the area of Microsoft and Linux server setup, configuration and troubleshooting

*Within at least 2 projects, experience in configuration, and troubleshooting of Active Directory including but not limited to DNS, inner workings of AD, query the AD structure and verify the security settings per OU, delegation models, forest trusts

*Within at least 2 projects, experience in configuration and troubleshooting of Server Operating systems (Windows 2012 / 2016 / 2019) including the secure configuration lockdown (hardening) by means of GPO and SCM. Equivalent in at least one relevant Linux server technology.

*Within at least 1 project, experience in LDAPv3, troubleshooting connections

*Within at least 2 projects, experience with the usage, configuration and troubleshooting of encryption and certificate management on the application and web servers

*Performing queries and scripting updates to the LDAP tree

*At least 2 years' experience in day-to-day IT operations

Knowledge and skills

*Knowledge how to translate a High Level Design into an implementable infrastructure & operations design, including operations manual and handover to operations teams

*Knowledge how to discuss and agree design and way of work at various levels like: architecture level, developers level and operations level

*Knowledge of Active Directory including but not limited to DNS, inner working of AD, knowledge how to query the AD structure and verify the security settings per OU

*Knowledge of Windows 2012 and/or 2016 and/or 2019

*Knowledge of Linux server technology (RedHat v7, CentOS, Ubuntu Server)

*Knowledge of day-to-day operations

*Knowledge of basic networking including IP, NAT, load balancing

*Knowledge of LDAP troubleshooting and scripting

*Knowledge of integration of monitoring into Microsoft SCOM

*Knowledge of JAVA based application servers

*Knowledge SharePoint including troubleshooting

*A solid understanding of an operating system; understands paging and swapping, inter-process communications, devices and what device drivers do, file system concepts (clustering, logical partitions), can use performance analysis to tune systems

*A solid understanding of networking/ distributed computing environments concepts; understands principles of routing, client/ server programming, design of consistent network-wide file system layouts

*Good understanding of fundamental security concepts and applied cryptography

*Solid documentation skills in English

*Working knowledge, written and spoken, of English required.
