I am looking for a Head of Software Development ideally with experience in Public Sector and GDS Government Digital Service processes.You will be working alongside the other Heads of (Product, Delivery, User Research and Design).Responsible for leading a team of in-house developers. They're spread across various cross-discipline teams and service areas, each building services to meet the needs of their users. To be effective, developers need the right technical skills and practices, but also have to understand the domain and the way they work. You will idenfy, set, and communicate the standards, principles, and blueprints to help them deliver extraordinary services. The teams are expected to work at a very high-standard, with the ambition to become industry leaders in many areas. - Build a diverse and thriving community of Software Developers and foster a DevOps culture - Build and lead a group of specialism leads in the community, each responsible for areas like specific programming languages (e.g. Ruby, C#) or fields (front-end development, accessibility) - Improve approach to Software Development by introducing (or stopping) ways of working and setting Software Development standards and principles. - Communicating between the technical and non-technical - You are skilled at mediating and mending relationships, communicating with stakeholders at all levels and in areas of high risk or complexity.
