The Digital, Information and Technology (DIT) directorate is a 70 strong team of digital, information management and technology professionals. Our digital teams adopt a user centric agile methodology and work in multi-disciplinary teams (MDT's) with analytics and insight to develop and maintain NICE's suite of digital and technology services. We are playing a key role in the implementation of NICE's digital transformation programme.

Transforming the way that NICE develops and works with content is at the heart of this digital transformation. As part of this we are building out a new content engineering team to support the modelling and structuring of NICE content. This team will work closely with those setting the NICE content strategy and the technical teams delivering content management systems.

As part of this new team we are looking for an NLP engineer to drive the integration of appropriate NLP technologies within NICE's existing content management solutions, and to apply NLP to existing NICE content informing the way NICE products are structured and described.

More broadly NICE is investing firmly in data science and NLP across the organisation and continuing to build its relationships with external organisations experts in the field such as the National Centre for Text Mining, The University of Manchester. This role will offer opportunities to work with people from this wider NLP network and to take part in shared research with these external organisations.

The key objectives and skills required for the role are:

  • Enrich the existing corpus of NICE guidance with metadata through deep learning-based NLP approaches for tasks such as information extraction, text classification, summarisation, generation. This will involve the development and implementation of weakly supervised and unsupervised methods, graph-based methods, distant supervision and transfer learning. This will also draw on your experience with crowdsourcing techniques for developing labelled data sets.
  • Working with software engineers and search experts to develop and integrate NLP solutions within NICE search capability. This will help to drive improved user experiences through enabling applications such as advanced search, summarisation, question answering, etc.
  • Support the enhancement of existing NLP solutions used to support systematic review and guideline development to drive the wider implementation of NLP within the content management solutions at NICE.

  • Here at NICE we are passionate and proud of the work we do and the impact we make.
  • We can offer you a great place to work with good benefits, flexible working and a supportive, friendly and inclusive environment.
  • We have an academic culture committed to producing high quality work and we take collective responsibility.
