The team
At Defra, we have one of the biggest and exciting change agendas in Government. We are setting in place the structures and capabilities necessary to operate outside the EU on environmental protection, climate change, the agriculture, food and fisheries sectors, and new international trade responsibilities. The Portfolio team has been created to set the standards for delivering change, develop Defra's project delivery profession and improve the performance of our major projects and programmes.
The role
As Deputy Director - Project Delivery Profession & Business Change, you will set the direction and operating model for the team, overseeing a thriving community of experts and professionals. We will look to you to:
Provide visible and inspirational leadership to project delivery and business change professionals
Raise the profile, develop the capability and shape the identity of the profession
Set the principles and standards for projects to follow
Ensure the team has the tools, support and connections to excel in their roles
Champion the profession in Defra, across Government and throughout industry.
Your background
We are looking for a driven, highly capable and credible individual with:
Extensive experience of delivering change and inspiring project delivery and business change professionals
A track record of providing strategic advice, constructive challenge and support
Proven ability to build strong relationships at all levels, navigating politically sensitive and complex issues and negotiations
Experience of working seamlessly across boundaries, collaborating with - and drawing on resources from across - Government or the private sector.
