My client is looking for a data scientist to be based in Bristol, for an initial 6 month contract with the potential to extend.

This data scientist focuses on making value out of data and works on driving and delivering analytics and intelligence across procurement teams. This role will enhance the procurement department from a digital perspective, and will work closely with the analytics support to identify the areas for improvement. This role will be responsible for writing and coding individual programmes builds AI tools that can automate certain processes within the company.

Strategic

Own the analytics and digital opportunities across procurement teams, tracking function / team / individual performance financially and commercially vs. agreed KPIs, supporting decision making with trusted analytics and intelligence

Drive the program development and deployment across procurement teams

Operational

Define and deliver system improvement strategy and activities, providing accurate information and dashboard reporting across procurement teams

Deliver the system enhancement and development strategy and support capability for Procurement stakeholders, to enable performance tracking and reporting. Provide recommendations for new development opportunities

Support data and system strategy, including cleansing requirements, system development, reporting design and delivery, access and security

Drive and deliver insightful analytics and intelligence to procurement teams, including spend analytics, procurement performance, market research, commodity pricing tracking, industry and commodity insights etc.

Manage and maintain data by consolidating all internal and external data such as spend, 3rd party market research, supplier screening data, and compliance reporting data and miscellaneous information

Work with management and users to obtain full understanding of software's requirements. Analyse needs and recommend new programs or upgrades to existing software

Support the development of KPI target setting and reporting processes, ensure alignment and embedment of KPIs collecting / capture methodologies

Produce clean, efficient code based on specifications and integrate software components with existing system

Maintain expertise around industry best practice standards

Manage good relationships with key internal and external stakeholders, ensure continuous alignment

Lead, develop and coach a team of procurement professionals to deliver brilliant outcomes for BT and customers

5-7 years experience as a leader within the data science function, with strong leadership skills and the ability to lead, and deliver value

Strong experiences in data science, able to lead and develop both processes and people

Able to draw recommendations from value-added analytics, to enable effective decision making across procurement functions, with advanced experience in visualisation and simulation tools, scenario modelling, cost / benefit analysis

Ability to understand the linkage between data and the underpinning processes/information flows that move that data across the business

Able to understand how the system can help in achieving the over business strategy

Experience in working in an agile environment

Strong relationship management skills & ability to influence decision making with senior stakeholders within a matrixed environment

Ability to manage BT's complex, strategic and commercial characteristics in line with external and internal requirements

Demonstrates strong continuous improvement skills

Track record of delivering continuous improvement that exceeds customer expectations
