This role sits within our Data Services team, which is working to revolutionise how we manage and exchange data with participants in the energy industry. It's a great career opportunity, as we are a multi-disciplinary team working at the forefront of data delivery solutions and insights and your work will have an impact both within Ofgem and across the industry. This new service is currently in beta and involves the development of APIs and secure submission mechanisms. You will lead on the front end development and maintenance of the external facing Data Exchange, exploring opportunities for improvement and meeting end users' needs. You will play a lead role in end-to-end data architecture and handling - defining and communicating technical needs for data collection, ingestion, transformation and calculation. Your recent technical experience should include working with: Java 11 (or newer) SQL / noSQL database applications Web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/AJAX) and web infrastructure (Apache HTTP/web server, servlet containers, caching, proxies, security, CDNs) You should also have experience in the creation of web services, software design and designing and implementing effective automated testing tools. You'll have a good appreciation of Software / Integration Design Patterns and will already have worked with development infrastructure and tools. Good all-round communication skills will enable you to collaborate effectively with both technical and non-technical colleagues. Ofgem is proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
