Requirements, Data and Software Engineer

1.Support to a Data Science work stream

Support a Data Scientist (DS) in the DS's task of using tools and libraries to develop routines, alerts and workflow.

In particular, to reshape the data so that it can be more effectively worked on, as well as carefully documenting methods, test data and integration approaches to ensure a scientific output and to avoid the introduction of untraceable biases in the results of further use of the tools.

2.Development of software and system requirements

It is likely that the data science work stream will generate new tasks that may be translated into further Features or User Stories (System or Service Requirements in conventional language) which will be incorporated into the programme or team backlog, to be developed by a separate engineering team.

The Requirements and Data Engineer will be responsible for articulating those requirements through briefing and documentation so that they can be taken through a full engineering lifecycle with confidence that they will produce an expected outcome.

3.Software development

Subject to the candidate possessing the requisite skills, this role may also participate in the writing of code or performing software modifications or configuration of COTS software to meet the requirements developed in the Data Science work stream.

Essential skills

*Experience of Python programming language

*Exposure to some or all of the following Python libraries: Numpy, Pandas, Scikit-learn

*Experience of ingesting, processing & cleaning large datasets

*Experience of producing analytical reports and drawing insights from large datasets, particularly for a non-technical audience

Desirable

*Experience of machine learning algorithms:

*Supervised techniques (e.g. Random Forest, XGBoost, Neural Networks)

*Unsupervised techniques (e.g. Clustering algorithms; K-Means, DBSCAN)

*Exposure to one or more of Keras, Tensorflow, PyTorch
