The British government, and specifically the Department for Health and Social Care, are committed to understanding and mitigating the risk that COVID-19 presents to the UK's population, and it is here that you could find a career-defining opportunity. Utilising the Track and Trace service, the team are providing comprehensive insight that will determine key drivers and concentrations of the virus. Making use of varied contextual information, plus environmental data and infrastructure testing results (such as swab tests), our analyses will shape the handling of local and national infection-rates, and directly influence how the recovery plan is being delivered.

You could play an integral part in this nationally important work when you join our analytical community. Assessing real-time COVID-19 transmission information plus non-health related data, you will ensure your insights are evidence-based, particularly as they will impact on everything from specific communities that are at risk, through to the UK's travel policies and the impact of non-pharmaceutical interventions. Maintaining a close eye on international developments relating to the virus, you will share insights with the most senior level colleagues, including the UK's four Chief Medical Officers, Ministers and senior officials at the heart of decision-making in the UK. As such, this is a role that provides the chance to make a significant impact across government on a range of fascinating policy areas.

To be equal to this varied role, you will have experience of finding, analysing and manipulating contextual information and large data sets. With the ability to confidently utilise a range of qualitative and quantitative techniques, you will be able to meet deadlines across multiple projects, and you will be a collaborative team-player who can work flexibly with internal and external stakeholders. Having gained your skills in a policy-led environment, you will have excellent verbal and written communication capabilities, and it would be beneficial if you have previously worked with Ministers and number ten on high-profile issues. Degree qualified in economics, statistics, operational research or social research, it would also be desirable if you have experience in a relevant field such as biosecurity, health, emergency planning, or national security.

This is a valuable opportunity to further your career in a fast-paced and highly-influential team. With the scope for networking and substantial progression, you will find a supportive and dynamic team environment, further enhanced by a generous benefits package. We want you to succeed in our inspirational team, so join us, and take on the most important challenge of your career.
