The British government is committed to breaking the impact of COVID-19, and as such, is working to bring frontline evidence, contextual information and data (both health and non-health related) together to identify key drivers and concentrations of the virus. With succinct analyses and assessments to work on, we will be able to better identify the most at-risk groups, and manage a solid recovery plan. Join us as an Analyst, and you could be at the heart of the nation's return to normal life.

This is an exciting opportunity to join the DHSC's analytical community, and utilise the data and information being received from the Test and Trace Service. Finding, analysing and expertly manipulating large sets of data, you will shape risk and transmission insights, sharing this information to help regional decision-makers implement the most effective non-pharmaceutical interventions. Keeping a close eye on international developments, you will assess information as it becomes available to inform UK travel policies, and you will juggle the needs of multiple projects, ensuring every deadline is met. Crucially, you will work across a wide array of policy areas, using qualitative and quantitative approaches to help us determine the National Alert Level and identify sectors and communities that are at specific risk.

Roles like this are quite exceptional. From the offset, your findings will be relied on by the UK's four Chief Medical Officers, senior-level decision makers and Ministers, so the scope for large-scale impact is spectacular. As such, you will need to be a collaborative team-player with the confidence to present knowledge, underpinned by excellent verbal and written communication skills. With the capacity to manage your own time, you will have the flexibility to adapt to emerging needs. As a degree-qualified Economist, Statistician, Operational Researcher or Social Researcher, you will have some experience of working in a policy-led environment in which you have used complex data and information to draw evidence-based conclusions. It would also be useful if you have experience of working with Ministers and number ten, or you have previously worked in a relevant field such as health, biosecurity, emergency planning or national security - though these criteria are not essential to the role.

If you want to put your career on the most exciting trajectory, take on a wealth of fascinating projects and gain exposure to senior-level decision makers within the government, then this is the role for you. Combined with a generous benefits package that includes flexible working options and a Civil Service pension scheme, you are sure to excel in our forward-thinking team.
