Second Line IT Support Engineer / Technician who has experience with setting up new laptops / PCs and laptop / PC builds, supporting users onsite and remotely, troubleshooting PC / laptop hardware and software issues is required by a well-established Charity in Reading, Berkshire.

 

SALARY: £23,109 to £24,469 pro rata per

LOCATION: Reading, Berkshire

JOB TYPE: Full-Time, 4 Month Fixed-Term Contract

JOB OVERVIEW

We have a fantastic new fixed-term contract opportunity for a Second Line IT Support Engineer / Technician (known within the organisation as an ‘IS Windows Roll Out Coordinator') who has experience with setting up new laptops / PCs and laptop / PC builds, supporting users onsite and remotely, troubleshooting PC / laptop hardware and software issues.

Working as the Second Line IT Support Engineer / Technician you will have several responsibilities from supporting staff and volunteers to use IS equipment and systems, to laptop and PC rebuilds and rolling out new software updates.

DUTIES

Your duties and responsibilities as the Second Line IT Support Engineer / Technician

  • Set up new laptops and rebuild returned laptops, following a clearly detailed set of instructions
  • Provide support to IS users from all sites and remotely based Home Workers
  • Record all IS related queries and issues reported to the Service Desk by telephone or in person by users as incidents in the call management system
  • Monitor and respond to automatically logged incidents within the call management system
  • Plan and organise workload based on the priority needs of users, remote sites and any other initiative as directed by the Lead Support Technician
  • Identify possible issue trends and potential risks with the remote site technology and user IS capability, providing recommendations to the Lead Support Technician and Head of IS Operations
  • Analyse, troubleshoot, build, configure and install PC based hardware, operating systems and apps

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS

As the Second Line IT Support Engineer / Technician you will have the following:

  • Familiarity with Windows operating systems Windows 7 and Windows 10
  • Demonstrable experience of working with Microsoft Office Applications such as Word and Complex Excel spreadsheets
  • An interest in computers and using different Microsoft Applications
  • Consistency in following written instructions and check lists
  • Comfortable in working in multiple systems concurrently
  • Ability to work in an organised and focused way to manage multiple tasks to a defined work plan
  • Ability to pick up new skills and knowledge quickly and efficiently
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Attention to detail and ability to work quickly and accurately
  • Ability to work independently and within a team
  • Eligibility to work in the UK

Desirable

  • Experience in deployment, management and support of Microsoft Win10 devices
  • Experience installing applications and running windows updates even on personal devices
  • Hardware support experience including laptops and desktops
  • Comfortable with running automated scripts and checking results for consistency
  • IT Related certification: ICT, MCP, CompTIA or relevant experience, ITIL Foundation qualification. Desirable - MCSA, MCSE certificated
