With our new BI function, we're building for the future.

Lead progress and development - and help us support a fast-moving industry

The challenge

Often in the public eye, the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) is an evolving public corporation. Essentially, we're responsible for shaping and delivering the regulation of nuclear safety and security across the UK. To support this fast-moving industry, we've launched an exciting modernisation agenda. As Head of Business Intelligence, you'll be at forefront, leading a critical function.

The role

Based within the Finance Directorate, Business Intelligence is helping to build the ONR of the future and deliver our 2025 strategy. As Head of Business Intelligence, you'll lead the development of the function, embedding best practice and making the most of ONR's data. Part of the challenge is designing and delivering an extensive suite of real-time management information tools through automation and digital visualisation media. With these solutions, managers will be able to make informed decisions by accessing high quality, integrated, intelligent information. At the same time, you'll develop your team, deliver a BI roadmap and support ONR with professional business analysis. Collaborative and respected, you'll be a pivotal member of the Finance Directorate.

The person

At this level, you'll need previous experience in a similar role. You'll have led a BI function, supplied expert analysis and dealt with multiple stakeholders. You'll also be used to developing BI using visualisation techniques with Power BI or Azure platforms. And with a Foundation level qualification in Business or Data Analysis, you'll have a firm grasp of BI tools and database designs. With this expertise, you'll have the credibility to manage a quality service and advise senior figures. Insistent on excellent outputs, you'll expand BI's impact and its role in our organisation.

The rewards

We offer competitive salaries at the ONR, with this role attracting a salary of £53,012 to £61,307. Furthermore, you'll be eligible for a substantial Civil Service Pension scheme (including ill-health retirement and lump sum family benefits). Plus, you'll receive a generous holiday entitlement.

About us

ONR is a Public Corporation with a Mission to ensure the highest standards of safety and security across all of the UK's licensed nuclear sites. Our staff are drawn from a wider range of professional backgrounds in order to run a stand-alone business with specialist inspectors to deliver our core business including civil engineering, radiological protection, human factors, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering and nuclear physics. And together they're involved in everything from assessing safety cases, inspecting nuclear sites, communicating our decisions, training new recruits and representing the UK and ONR within the wider International nuclear community.
