An IT Architect is required for our client based in Exeter, for an initial 4 month contract. Job PurposeOur client is seeking an IT Architect to assess the technical options that could satisfy their requirements for supplementary data management exchange, advising on the strengths and weaknesses of each approach, recommending the preferred solution and developing this into an architectural design / system specification. ResponsibilitiesThe main overarching responsibility for this role is to lead the specification and design of a cloud-based platform to facilitate international exchange of supplementary or novel meteorological observations. As part of this responsibility, you will be expected to:Gain a strong understanding of requirements and policy constraints in order to define system specificationsCatalogue existing capabilities and evaluate the potential of software or hardware for reuse, conducting a code and documentation review.Develop a System Specification, defining the preferred technologies and proposing capabilities for reuse, ensuring the technical solutions are compliant with EUMETNET Member's policy constraints and international guidance for data exchange Essential Qualifications, Skills & AbilitiesExpert understanding of IT architecture and federated approaches to cloud based data management with knowledge of data standards and relevant policiesDemonstrated ability to lead the design, planning and delivery of IT technical solutions that meet users' needs.Demonstrated ability to communicate complex IT technical concepts, explaining the opportunities and issues in laymen's terms to an audience with a varying degree of technical knowledge.Demonstrated ability to develop cloud-based services.Evidence of successfully managing the delivery of projects. Desirable Qualifications, Skills & AbilitiesA sound understanding of international data exchange principles.Evidence of taking a proactive stance in developing scientific opportunities
