Senior Azure DevOps Engineer (SC / DV)

My client urgently requires a Senior Azure DevOps Engineer to be based from the customer site in London on a contract basis.

Responsibilities

*Developing various infrastructure solutions including Public Cloud eg. Azure and AWS as well as datacenter / private cloud to deliver high availability, rapidly developed, fully automated solutions using predominately open source software which deliver value to the customer.

*Providing technical leadership, help and guidance to less experienced members of the team through mentoring, coaching, constructive review and active participation in various technical forums.

*Advising our customers on the latest technologies and methodologies, designing and implementing innovative approaches to their problems using Automation.

*Ensuring software standards are maintained, being able to train and mentor junior staff. Defining processes and procedures to ensure maximum re-use and maintaining standards.

*Understanding security policies and implementing solutions that satisfy the security requirements.

*Designing and implementing solutions which have high availability and are scalable.

*Providing feedback and demonstrating to a wider audience solutions currently being developed and introducing the team to new concepts and products.

*Advise on testing solutions that can be automated to deliver an end to end testing solution for products.

*Advise on monitoring solutions, which can automate error collection and display the results in real time that will improve the customer's experience.

Essential Skills

-Experience of working in an Agile environment.

-Hand-on experience of installing, managing and deploying Azure Stack

-Fundamental understanding of Microsoft Azure. Windows System administration, filesystem concepts etc.

-Fundamental understanding of the architecture of Hybrid Clouds

-Hands-on experience in PowerShell scripting and the typical variety of PowerShell cmdlets with main focus on Azure PowerShell

-Hands-on experience in infrastructure as code, applied with configuration management, automation and orchestration tools such as Ansible and Terraform.

-Fundamental understanding of networking in Azure.

-Experience of using AzureCLI to deploy workloads to Azure

-Experience of Azure Stack

-Understanding of programming patterns and constructs, an ability to learn is crucial/critical.

-Experience of using source control systems, CI/CD, unit testing. (Gitlab, including Jenkins and Azure DevOps toolset)

Desirable Skills

-Operating, maintaining and managing cloud infrastructure at scale, ideally Azure Hybrid Cloud

-Demonstrable experience of utilising PowerShell Pester module

-Production experience with database technologies. (MS SQL)

-Experience of Microsoft Azure, DevOps, Git branching, VMs, Web Apps, Blob Storage, Key Vault

-Understanding of how to monitor Azure based applications.

-Understanding of the Data Centre networking

-Understanding of backup and disaster recovery of Azure Stack in disconnected mode
