Software Development Manager - Java, Agile / Scrum, MentoringMy client based in North Bristol are looking to take on a Software Development Manager to take ownership of one of their platforms and manage a team of 6-8 Developers, 1 Architect and a Product Owner.While the role itself will be hands-off and you will not be expected to do any development within the role yourself, the client are looking for someone who has been hands-on at some point in the last 5 years to have the level of credibility when talking technical with their team and making informed decisions on the technical roadmap.You will be rewarded with the flexibility of 1-2 days per week working from home, private medical insurance, excellent pension and a salary of up to £65,000 Neg (they may look at £70k for the right person). Role Responsibilities / Objectives:- To take ownership of this particular platform and to lead and manage the coordinated tasks in respect of research, planning, design, development, testing, implementation of solutions and enhancements to meet the needs of the business on a defined schedule (in accordance with Agile Scrum)- To continuously improve processes and procedures with good practices- Align the technical roadmap, and supporting technologies to the needs of the business, now and in the future (negotiated together with the Product Roadmap)- Defending the technical narrative when negotiating with internal and external stakeholders- Coach, mentor, nurture and develop the team and bridge any gaps in capabilities, skills and behaviours Skillset / Experience- Strong Software Development Management experience or experience as a Lead Engineer, ideally with a team size of 6 - 12- Recent (within the last 5 years) hands-on commercial software development experience, ideally in Java and Spring, but Microsoft technologies (C#, ASP.Net, .Net Core) would also be considered- Experience of owning, building and maintaining a product or platform as opposed to integration projects etc- Strong Agile / Scrum experience - be this on the basis of leading an Agile transformation, implementing Scrum practices, or just managing a Scrum team (any qualifications in Agile / Scrum would be extremely beneficial)- Excellent communication If you meet the above requirements and would be interested in learning more about this opportunity, please apply with an up to date CV ASAP as they are looking to move very quickly with this role.Software Development Manager - Java, Agile / Scrum, Mentoring
