Your role

As an Advanced Data Acquisition Officer, you'll join a team of digital forensics experts who support our operations through cutting-edge innovation and bespoke technical solutions. Working in an ISO-accredited laboratory, you'll research and develop emerging technologies which strengthen our investigative capabilities, especially during time-critical situations. You'll also help coordinate investigations, gather intelligence and maximise our resources to ensure we can recover and analyse items quickly, efficiently and effectively.

Beyond the research and development side of forensics, you'll provide invaluable advice across the NCA and build strong working partnerships with internal and external groups to foster collaborative working.

You may also be expected to work directly or indirectly in tackling child sexual exploitation and abuse. This may involve exposure to child sexual abuse images and material, so please consider the sensitive nature of our work before deciding to apply.

Your background

You'll have significant experience in developing new technologies, ideally within electronics or telecommunication systems. You'll also have a sound knowledge of forensic principles, electronic schematics, risk management, electronic diagnostic equipment, data analysis and IT. You should also be able to write clear, concise reports and handle machinery.

You may have prior experience with cybercrime, relevant legislation or bulk data analysis, though these aren't essential.

Beyond this, we're looking for skilled communicators who can work flexibly and perform under pressure despite changing timescales and competing demands.
