This is an exciting opportunity for a cyber security expert to join a world leading government agency and play a key role ensuring that all technology and information services across the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) are protected against a variety of cyber threats.

The CMA is the UK's primary competition and consumer authority, making markets work well in the interests of consumers, businesses, and the economy. Our work makes a difference to people's lives, and we rely on cyber security to support the delivery of our operational objectives and protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of our information and systems.

As ICT Cyber Security Lead, you will be responsible for creating and designing security for our systems and services, maintaining security documentation and developing architecture patterns and security approaches to new technologies. You will be expected to manage any cyber security incidents, ensuring that appropriate technical actions are taken across the organisation and that damage is minimised. You will also assist in post incident clean up and root cause analysis activities, ensuring appropriate measures are put in place to minimise future incidents.

Your additional key responsibilities will include:

Developing, maintaining and ensuring cyber risk management is comprehensive across the organisation, in line with NCSC guidelines and security best practice

Ensuring security, risk and governance decision-making processes are integrated into projects, programmes and digital solutions

Providing meaningful risk advice and clear, consistent reporting to senior CMA stakeholders

Facilitating agreement to Cyber Security risk appetite statements

Advising on important security-related technologies and assessing the risk associated with proposed changes

The ideal candidate will have a recognised cyber security qualification (e.g. CISSP, CISM, M. Inst IISP, etc.) or comparable experience, including OWASP Top 10, CWE/SANS Top 25, WASC, Microsoft Azure, Advanced Threat Protection, Network Architectures, Data Encryption, Windows 10 and DNS.

This role will suit someone who has come from a technical background in such specialisms as a Security Engineer, Security Architect, Networking Technical Lead, SOC Analyst, Pen Tester or Consultant, Networking with Cyber Security. Proven experience of successfully architecting, integrating, managing and delivering cyber security, governance and risk initiatives with a good knowledge of relevant cyber security standards and risk assessment methodologies is also essential.

In return, the CMA is a hugely rewarding, diverse and stimulating place to work for the public good and to stretch and develop yourself in doing so. All CMA staff enjoy generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/ paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme and favourable consideration of flexible working.
