We are committed to wellbeing and at this challenging time, it remains our priority. We are currently looking for a Database Administrator to join our Group Technology and Change team based in Edinburgh on a permanent basis. The main purpose of the role is to support our Database estate, specifically SQL Server and Oracle databases, and provide guidance to application developers, system testers and operational support colleagues.Key Accountabilities Support a large diverse SQL Server  (Circa 4000  databases) and business critical Oracle estate Follow ITIL processes and procedures to ensure systems are maintained to KPIs and SLAs of the various business units and industry regulators. Developing and maintaining procedures to ensure that systems can be recovered in the event of a disaster To enhance services and processes through automation and innovation Skills and Experience Highly skilled within MS SQL Server Experience with DBMS best practice previously An Appreciation and understanding of the development life cycle previously Experience working with 3rd party suppliers previously Experience in the support and maintenance methods supplied with the software licence. Essential Criteria Technically proficient in SQL Server 2008 to 2019: Technically proficient in Microsoft Windows (MS Server 2008 to Server 2019) Have an understanding of other software and hardware that use database systems and how they fit together. Experience of designing technical solutions fit for purpose. Excellent verbal and written communication skills Desirable Criteria Experience with database replication and availability technologies  such as Log Shipping, Mirroring and Always On SQL & PL/SQL programme language knowledge Knowledge of other operating systems or databases would be an advantage i.e. Oracle, RHEL, HP-UX Willingness to work out of hours and on-call when required Experience working within a financial services organisation previously What we offer We've always been proud to reward employees by offering a number of benefits such as Pensions and Protection, Performance and role-related benefits, Lifestyle and Wellbeing  Our culture comes from within, or to put it another way, it comes from our people.
