I am currently looking for an experienced 'Linux Engineer' who can join a well-established team to help support the infrastructure underpinning the main Oracle ERP systems within the Data Centre for a well-known client. The estate consists of around 400 VMs, this is a great opportunity with great benefits to support.

Linux Engineer duties will include: Dell server hardware with iDrac.Creating & supporting Virtual Machines on Oracle Virtual Machines (OVM) V3.4, predominantly on Oracle Linux 7 with UEK3.Maintaining and supporting OVM.Installing and supporting physical servers with Oracle Linux 7 and OVS (hypervisor component of OVM).Communicating and working with DBAs for appropriate system setup.

Experience required for the Linux Engineer:

Oracle Linux 5/6/7 (Red Hat Linux N is a directly transferable skill for Oracle Linux N.). OL7 is the current major version in use, including; Provisioning (baremetal & virtual machines)XFS Filesystem / LVM / grub2 (particularly when cloning physical servers)NFS with shared filesystemsOracle is highly desired however experience with ERP's will be suitable.

Other skills experience required; Strong networking troubleshooting skills, including DNS/NTP/bonding/LACP/VLANs/email (smtp/exim) / snmpKnowledge of kernel other settings related to Oracle (HugePages, etc)Storage skills, particularly with NFS. Neither FC nor iSCSI is in use in our Oracle environmentPerformance monitoringTroubleshootingSystemdShell scripting in BASHFamiliarity with security concepts and implementation
