This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Infrastructure Engineer to join the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA), where you will play a key role in the maintenance and support of our server across a variety of platforms, utilising the latest Cloud based technology.

The CMA is the UK's primary competition and consumer authority, making markets work well in the interests of consumers, businesses, and the economy. Our work makes a difference to people's lives, and we rely on an outstanding IT infrastructure service to continue to work effectively on competition cases for the public good.

Working in a team of infrastructure specialists and engineers, you will build, administer, support and maintain solutions to ensure the smooth running of the storage and backup infrastructure across on-premise, Disaster Recovery and Cloud platforms.  This will include ensuring services are integrated, delivered and operated as required, working with the Technical Architect to translate designs into operations and ensuring a consistent Disaster Recovery policy is maintained and enforced. You will also provide input into overall management, future transformation and change projects, including workforce, budget, technology roadmaps, projects and tasks.

As the technical lead for server, storage and backup solutions and support, you will also lead on maintenance, support, and proactive patching, updating and monitoring of the CMA Storage and Compute infrastructure along with a focus on Storage and Backup and associated Disaster Recovery policies and processes.

We work with predominantly Cloud based technologies including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Office 365 E5 and various other supporting technologies, including Rubrik, Nutanix, Netapp, SCCM, SCOM, Windows Server 2012/2016, RDS, Hyper V, Microsoft SQL and Sophos. Along with ensuring these technologies are sufficiently supported and resilient, you will be expected to engage with all departments to help ensure all our services are resilient with effective RTOs and RPOs.

Significant experience of managing IT infrastructure, particularly Cloud based, and disaster recovery planning is essential, as is experience in information security and the ability to investigate patterns and trends to resolve problems.

In return, the CMA is a hugely rewarding, diverse and stimulating place to work for the public good and to stretch and develop yourself in doing so. All CMA staff enjoy generous benefits, including an excellent pension scheme, at least 25 days leave (increasing to 30 over five years), and generous maternity/ paternity leave provision. You can also take advantage of interest-free season ticket loans, a cycle to work scheme and favourable consideration of flexible working.
