esure Group are currently recruiting for a Java Developer to join our IT department to support our business product domains.  The successful candidate can be based in one of three of our office locations, Reigate, Glasgow or Manchester.

You will be working as part of a growing, experienced Development team, building, expanding and enhancing our platforms on our journey to becoming an agile digital insurer.

 The role:

You will be working on delivering specific Pricing, Customer or Claims functionality to various clients for various insurance products.  A number of Microservices and orchestration technologies will be utilised within a cloud infrastructure that are integrated within a CI/CD platform.

The post offers an opportunity to apply your knowledge and participate in the transformation into a DevOps/service-based/Continuous Integration architecture. Successful applicants will be expected to proactively share technical knowledge and ideas.

What you'll do:

Develop and design software on a variety of systems using Java and JVM based technologies, translating feature-based requirements into software components from the ground up

Giving technical leadership in designing, developing and deploying different components with a focus on high availability, low latency and scalability in a distributed environment

Work closely with agile team members to collaborate and influence new development

Working with Product Owners and developers to populate and build Sprint backlogs

Actively sharing technical expertise with the team as a developer and mentor

What we are looking for:

Expert in Java

Extensive experience creating REST APIs using Spring Boot

Experience working with a cloud platform. AWS, Azure or Google Cloud Platform

Knowledge of a Database technology. Relational or NoSQL

Exhibits drive and initiative to learn whatever is necessary to explore new and existing solutions

Skilled in diagnosing and solving complex problems and providing detailed technical analysis

Previous background working in high traffic, highly transactional online environments             

Desirable Technical Skills

Use of Docker

Exhibits drive and initiative to learn whatever is necessary to explore new and existing solutions

Apache Camel

Knowledge of Messaging tools such as RabbitMQ or ActiveMQ - Desirable

Any experience working with Jenkins or Kubernetes
