esure Group are currently recruiting for a Site Reliability Engineer to join their high performing SRE team based in Reigate.

As part of esure's SRE team, the Site Reliability Engineer will support a variety of applications covering front-end, client-facing websites and business-facing applications.

You will be responsible for identification and resolution of incidents and problems with a view to fix and improve through automation. You will also share skills within our Cloud Services team and should be an evangelist for SRE techniques and goals to the broader IT community.

What you will do:

Ensuring required reactive and proactive activities are undertaken to ensure SRE team is contributing to the successful meeting of SLA's in relation to service availability

To provide technical input to quickly evaluate the impact of a new business initiative on the existing underlying application infrastructure platforms and delivery schedule

Proactively supporting the underlying application infrastructure technology estate reducing service risk, inefficiencies, problems and bugs

Responsible for supporting escalated incidents during office hours and out-of-hours support as required to ensure high availability of mission critical systems

To look for potential improvements to the SRE Team services provided and approach to propose to the SRE Manager

Champion DevOps working culture and need for effective collaboration

What we are looking for:

Experience supporting complex cloud and datacentre applications

Proven experience and knowledge of Windows systems, from server administration to Active Directory and MS SQL

A deep understanding of monitoring, and experience defining performance indicators and service level objectives

Knowledge of scripting or coding Powershell, bash, and Python

Essential technical experience:

AWS (particularly CloudWatch and Lambda)

Docker and Kubernetes

Jira and Confluence

Jenkins

Monitoring / alerting tools and solutions

Puppet (or similar) and Terraform

Scripting or coding with Powershell, bash, Python and/or Java

Preferred technical experience:

Experience with Oracle WebLogic (or similar container software)

Strong networking knowledge

Postgres and Oracle databases

Experience working in multi-cloud environments
