Platform Engineer London to £130k

Platform Engineer / Linux Systems Engineer (Linux RHE CentOS Linux) *Remote Interview*. Algorithmic trading firm is seeking a technologist Platform Engineer to work on complex and interesting systems as part of a global team.

As a Platform Engineer you'll provide solutions across the company's global colocation estate consisting of over three hundred Linux servers across twenty-two sites. In a wide ranging role you'll get involved with BAU activities (monitoring / requests / services / processes) as part of a global team to provide a highly available environment utilising automation, optimisation and continual service improvement practices. It's not all BAU though you'll also be involved with project delivery and collaborate across the business and with third parties to deliver end-to-end solutions with a focus on Ultra Low Latency platform engineering.

You'll be based in modern, open plan offices with all the latest kit and 360 views of the City; driven by technology the company is able to offer a remote interview process and onboarding during the current social distancing measures.

Requirements:

Advanced knowledge / experience of Linux (RHE / CentOS 6x and 7x preferred) in a large complex environment focussing on operations, systems engineering and systems performance

Experience with Low latency network interfaces and kernel bypass: Solarflare with onload, Mellanox with VMA

Server Management and Support: HP, SuperMicro, Dell and Cisco

Filesystem Management and Support: EXT4, XFS, NFSv3, NFSv4, and NFSv4.x

System tuning and performance troubleshooting

Ability to script using Python, Ruby or bash

Working knowledge of networking technologies such as TCP, UDP, NTP, PTP

Familiar with configuration management tools such as Chef, Terraform, Puppet, and Ansible

Advanced analysis, trouble-shooting and problem solving skills

Collaborative with good communication skills, keen to be part of a diverse global team

Likely to be degree educated in Computer Science, Engineering or similar
