Job Title: Quality Assurance & Technical ManagerLocation: Fraserburgh, Scotland Salary: Dependent on Skills and ExperienceJob Type: Full Time, Permanent Based in the North East of Scotland, in a town called Fraserburgh, they're a family run company employing around 200 people locally on site.Their business is all things fish. They process a variety of fresh and frozen fish and shellfish, mainly in primary form. To add to the variety they also do a bit of smoking and breading before sending their product all across the UK and Europe to a mix of markets such as Retail, Food Service and Wholesalers.Purpose of the Role:To manage the day-to-day activities of the company Technical department, lead and develop quality assurance and hygiene staff, and ultimately assure the quality and safety of product.Main Duties and Responsibilities:Managing the company's quality management system to ensure compliance with standards such as those set by British Retail Consortium (BRC) and Hazard Analysis and Critical Control point (HACCP) procedures on food handlingReviewing existing policies and planning how to improve the quality management systemImplementing improvements to the systemLead HACCP team, documenting decisions and reviewsRepresenting the business on technical-related matters such as auditsEnsuring associated staff are competent to do their jobsManaging company hygiene and quality activitiesInvestigate non-conformances as necessary and follow through on all corrective actionsLiaising closely with company management, customers and suppliersOrganise and lead monthly team meetingsMonitor and manage costs associated with Technical, e.g. cleaning chemicals, micro testing etc.Trend complaints, micro results etc. and communicate information with Management teamConduct Shelf life and Organoleptic testing as per scheduleThe above is not an exhaustive list of duties and you will be expected to perform different tasks as necessitated by your changing role within the organisation and the overall business objectives of the organisationSkills and Experience:The ideal candidate would be experienced in Technical Management preferably from a fish background but they are open to other food sectors.
