A Technical Author is required for our client based in Exeter for an initial 6 month contract. A Technical Author is required to support the definition and delivery of the Technical Architecture of the client in support of corporate objectives. ResponsibilitiesWorking as part of the Enterprise IT Architecture (EITA) team the technical author will work with all members of the team, and the wider architecture community, to deliver rich, user friendly technical architecture and team support artefacts. Our client's goal is to make the content easy to use, relevant to those using it and interesting to consume! The technical author will use existing documentation where available, along with his/her knowledge of public cloud and technology environments as well as working collaboratively with the team and community of practice. The output will be a set of assets which customers of the EITA team can use to understand our architecture and ways of working in order to make better decisions. The majority of material is expected to be written/diagrammatic content, however other medium such as video and audio may be used on occasion. However they are always open to new ways of working. What you'll need to succeed:* Previous Technical Authoring Experience* Previous experience of collaborative working and communicating with senior stakeholders* A knowledge of cloud platforms and technology environments (Software Development, Infrastructure, Security...)* A good knowledge of IT and DevOps practices* Experience of Office365 tooling (SharePoint, Teams, Planner, Flow…)* Creation of architectural diagrams/infographics* Video authoring* Enjoy working in an agile manner Essential Qualifications, Skills & Abilities1. Stakeholder relationship management. You can influence stakeholders and manage relationships effectively. You know how to build long-term strategic relationships and communicate clearly and regularly with stakeholders.2. Technical understanding. You know about the technologies used to build and operate application and infrastructure services.3. User focus. You know how to give direction on which tools or methods to use for the required outcome. You are experienced in meeting the needs of users across a variety of channels. You can bring insight and expertise in how user needs have changed over time to ensure these are met by the business. You know how to apply strategic thinking in how to provide the best service for the end user.4. Methods and tools. You know how to ensure that teams are using the right tools and methodologies and promote their use. Desirable Qualifications, Skills & Abilities1. Business analysis. You can investigate problems and analyse options for new and existing services. You know how to provide recommendations to solutions. You can work with stakeholders to identify objectives, opportunities and potential benefits available. (Relevant skill level: working)2. Agile working. You can identify and compare the best processes or delivery methods to use, including measuring and evaluating outcomes. You know how to help the team to decide the best approach. You can help teams to manage and visualise outcomes, prioritise work and work to agreed minimum viable product (MVP), print and scope
