A local council currently requires an Application Support specialist, for a permanent position based in Southend-on-Sea, paying between £31,371 to £36,876 per annum, dependant on experience.The Application Support Specialist will work in a small Product team and be responsible for system stability, maintenance and enhancements for a portfolio of "line of business" Applications. ResponsibilitiesProvide technical assistance, application support, usage advice and guidance to Council customers and third partiesSupport all elements of the Application lifecycle, from implementation to decommissionLead the technical implementation of new functionality/releases, including management of supplier resources and outputsLead technical workshops (requirements, design, etc.) and reviews with project teams (including with suppliers)Provide test plans and system testing for upgradesAssist with UAT and assist project teams with SME and project implementation supportEnsure compliance with regulatory requirements and completion of auditsEnsure application functionality and system availability meet the requirements of the Council whilst ensuring that a high level of customer support is maintainedWork closely with customers at an SME level supporting queries around specific application(s)Investigate and diagnose system faults and errors to resolve technical issues. Collaborate with colleagues in ICT Product Delivery and Infrastructure teams for more complex and significant issuesRegularly evaluate and recommend system and/or data enhancements to existing solutions and processesProvide support and expertise to projects and enhancements to ensure successful Service Transition into Production support.Provide training to users as neededPerform necessary maintenance and housekeeping tasks on Line of Business ApplicationsDevelop product knowledge and skill sets to enhance technical and business process expertise with the Line of Business ApplicationsExperience RequiredExperience within local authority environment highly advantageousExperience of using SQLExperience housing systems such as Northgate & Civica is a mustDemonstrable track record of developing and supporting line of business applications with a large user baseA working knowledge of business applications, interfaces (including APIs) and business processesStrong understanding of the Project Lifecycle and Development LifecycleExperience working in an Agile development environmentGood understanding of ITIL frameworkProven experience of successful incident management and troubleshooting, collaboratively working with IT colleagues, service experts and third-party suppliersPlease do apply using your most up to date CV in the first instance.
