Now is your time to shine. You've accomplished all you can as a Linux Sys Admin, so make the step into an SRE style environment.
You'll be joining a team in transition. A team that manages the trading systems environment. You'll support a development team that work to build various different trading systems, using different programming languages, but they're all implemented on linux.
Automation is key here, so you'll need to love automation. Bash will be a given, but Python is most likely to be your go to.
Not much to ask then, right?
The good thing is you don't have to be an SRE right now. So you don't need to know K8s, you don't need to be a cloud expert and you definitely don't need to be a developer. But, if you are a developer who wants to be an SRE long term, that would be fine too.
Your love for Linux and your desire to progress beyond systems administration is what will be key here.
No financial experinece required, just the desire to back yourself and be confident in your ability to progress.
You'll join a team of techincally strong engineers who'll have your back. It's an extremely collaborative environment, with ideas shared and considered fully.
