I'm recruiting a Data Engineer / Scientist for a permanent role in Cardiff. Salary up to £55,000pa + benefits.As the Data Engineer, you will be responsible for expanding and optimizing my client's data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. You will also be able to advise and assist on big data technologies that the business can use to produce advanced analysis in their product.The company is trying to uncover lots of hidden information in the vast amount of data they have. You'll help to check data quality, conduct investigations, and have the opportunity to use advanced analysis skills such as machine learning to build high quality predictive systems that integrate with their product.The Role

* Develops and maintains data infrastructure and pipelines

* Performs data cleansing and blending processes to produce analytic data sets for use by a variety of downstream purposes

* Responsible for discovering insights from Big Data to help shape or meet specific business needs and goals.

* Delivers effective presentations that tell compelling stories about analytical insights

* Implements new statistical, mathematical, machine learning or other methodologies for modelling or analysis

* Utilizes business knowledge to translate goals into data-based deliverables, such as predictive models, pattern detection analysis or optimization algorithms

* Collaborates with cross-functional stakeholders to understand business needs, formulate complete end-to-end analyses that includes business requirements, data gathering, analysis, scalable solutions, and presentations

* Collaborates with Development team to operationalize algorithms

* Collaborates with UX/UI Designer to visualize results of algorithmsSkills and experience

* Experience developing big data systems (e.g. Hadoop, Spark, Kafka or others)

* Experience at analysing data with R and Python as well as conducting big data analysis.Desirable

* Experience with data visualisation tools, such as Tableau, Power BI etc.

* Understanding of machine learning is desirable.
