Chief Technology Officer

One of our public sector clients is seeking a Chief Technology Officer to join their North London based team on a 12 month FTC. You will be required to take ownership and management of the IT infrastructure, development and digital/mobile programme resources, and required to plan, develop, deliver and support IT services and products to meet the needs of the business against SLA and OLA agreements. You will also be responsible for the management of performance of systems and services in terms of their contribution to business performance and their financial costs and sustainability.

Chief Technology Officer duties will include, but not limited to:

*To act as Deputy to the CIO and represent IT in all SMT meetings.

*Principle accountabilities to include: Budget management, staff management, contract ownership and responsibility, compliance monthly returns, effective monitoring and proactive management of the infrastructure, deliver the IT strategy, attend all key SMT and IT representation meetings as required

*Responsible for setting and managing the Infrastructure budget for the Force which amounts to an annual revenue spend of £5m, with additional capital project funding of £1m£3m p.a. Also responsible for delegating items within that budget to Team managers

*Coordinates the identification and assessment of new and emerging hardware, software and communication technologies, products, methods and techniques

*Takes responsibility for review of management processes (and decisions) and confirms that they are compliant with the organisation's strategy for corporate governance of information

*Identifies and manages resources needed for the planning, development and delivery of specified information and communications systems services (including data, voice, text, audio and images)

*Influences policy and procedures covering the selection of suppliers, tendering and procurement, promoting good practice in third party management with respect to information security

As the Chief Technology Officer you will be required to:

*Accredited to ITIL Foundation Level or higher

*Extensive experience of running an infrastructure support group, or similar technical support function, as part of a larger IT operation. Extensive experience of managing and developing multidisciplinary technical teams

*Extensive experience of evaluating, selecting, commissioning and managing core infrastructure products, both hardware and software

*Good experience of setting and managing complex IT budgets, both revenue and capital

*Good experience of writing strategic documents, complex business cases and presenting to senior stakeholders

*Good knowledge of core networking technologies together with an understanding of the key technology providers

*Technical knowledge of the some/all of the following: MS Active Directory Level / MS Outlook 2003 and 2010 Level / MS Windows Xp and 7 Level / Networking concepts (incl. security, firewalls and TCP/IP) Level / Preparation of Business Cases Level / VMware concepts, or recognised equivalent Level
