Location: Cambridge

Salary: £22,000.00 - £28,000.00REED Technology have the pleasure to be working with a global not for profit organisation in their search for a Software Developer to join their team in Cambridge. This company does some amazing work in tackling one of the biggest issues of our time and is at the forefront of helping to ensure that the future is bright for future generations.They work across a variety of projects that provide solutions to the private sector, governmental bodies and other not for profit organisations. The successful candidate in this role will liaise with the product manager, UX designer and full stack developers to implement responsive, accessible, dynamic and engaging biodiversity informatics web applications.Some of the key responsibilities for this role will consist of:Work closely with the UX designer and development team to design and implement context relevant web applicationsEnsure all applications are responsive (unless decided otherwise based on specific use cases), cross-browser functional and as accessible as possibleEnsure a consistently high level of quality in the front-end implementation of all our applicationsProvide thought leadership to the team on front end implementation best practice.Maintain and update existing websitesWork closely with developers, scientists and geospatial experts as part of the building processContribute to open source projectsThe ideal candidate for this role will have a Minimum of 2 years commercial experience with HTML, JavaScript and CSS, experience in implementing responsive front-end web designs and experience in integrating front end code with back end technologies (preferably Ruby on Rails). On top of this the ideal candidate will preferably, but not essentially, have the following:Experience with working with SVG'sUses version control systems such as GITIs passionate about clean and elegant codeUses frameworks such as jQuery, React.JS and AngularLikes contributing to and working with open source technologies.Has worked with geospatial data.
