3rd Line IT Support Engineer who has a strong customer focus, excellent communications skills and a good knowledge of IT best practice (ITIL) is required for a well-established Company based in Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, South West England.
This is a generalist support role with an opportunity to work with a number of leading technologies both on premise and cloud.
SALARY: £40,000 - £45,000 per annum (depending on experience) + Benefits
LOCATION: Royal Wootton Bassett, Wiltshire, South West England
JOB TYPE: Full-Time, Permanent
WORKING HOURS: Flexible approach to working hours, working in a team to provide 6am - 6pm support
JOB OVERVIEW
We have a fantastic new job opportunity for a 3rd Line IT Support Engineer who has a strong customer focus, excellent communications skills and a good knowledge of IT best practice (ITIL).
Working as the 3rd Line IT Support Engineer you will be responsible for the smooth running, break/fix support, monitoring and improvement of a range of business systems and technologies for the Company. You will work closely with members of local and global IT teams to ensure the secure and efficient delivery of services.
As the 3rd Line IT Support Engineer, you will have the following skills:
Broad knowledge of common Enterprise Operating Systems - Windows (all versions), Linux (Debian, Red Hat, Ubuntu etc.)
Support of hardware, printers, desktops, servers and mobile devices/phones
Email, Antivirus & Backup software
Managing Active Directory, DHCP, Group Policies
Configuration experience, deployment and support skills with Routers, Firewalls, Switches, Load Balancers, IDS/IPS and wireless access points
Experience of Cisco, Juniper or other firewall technologies
A good understanding of Platform Services, e.g. DNS, DNCP, NTP, AAA, LDAP, IAM
Knowledge of Cloud based technologies, e.g. AWS, Azure, SoftLayer
Demonstrable knowledge and experience with communication technologies and protocols including WAN products, VPN solutions, email & SMTP, SFTP/FTPS and enterprise file transfer solutions
Knowledge of SSL certificate processes

DUTIES
Your duties and responsibilities as the 3rd Line IT Support Engineer include:
Responding to and recording user and system logged issues on the Service Desk system
Providing daily support for internal applications and common 3rd party software
Administering and maintaining the corporate infrastructure, including Active Directory, VMware, Windows, Linux systems, Switches, routers and Firewalls
Administer the software application and desktop operating system deployment environment
Monitor and troubleshoot server and network performance
Administer backup and disaster recovery systems and processes
Keep operational documentation up to date
Research, recommend, plan and implement infrastructure system changes and projects
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
Ideally educated to a degree level, hold industry level qualifications or equivalent work experience
A strong customer-focus with excellent communication skills
A good knowledge of IT best practice, ITIL
Experience of meeting deadlines and delivering information in a timely fashion
Proven experience of successful delivery without the need for regular direction or supervision
Understanding of the issues involved in IT delivery in a global business, including awareness of security, governance, procurement requirements and constraints
Proven previous network support experience is essential
Must be able to undertake and gain Security Clearance or have current Security Clearance level
Willing to travel as necessary in line with business needs, including international travel
