Data Engineer

£40-50k + bonus + flexible benefits

Telford, Shropshire (ability to travel to other client sites occasionally is required)

We are seeking an experienced Data Engineer (Data and Analytics) to join a leading innovative data team in a prestigious organisation. Your role will involve the design, development, testing and support of data and analytics software solutions for one of the company's long standing, well known clients.

RESPONSIBILITIES

*Working as part of an Agile software delivery team; typically delivering within an Agile Scrum framework.

*You will work on the full range of software engineering and solutions development activity; covering requirements gathering and analysis, solutions design, software coding and development, testing, implementation and live support.

*You will contribute to the software engineering communities by providing your ideas for innovation and process improvement and coaching and mentoring less experienced team members.

KEY SKILLS

*Experience as a software engineer delivering within large scale and complex 'big data' and data analytics solutions.

*Agile Scrum based delivery

*Expertise in a range of leading ETL toolsets, database technologies, data analytics toolsets, operating systems, platforms (Cloud/traditional), programming and scripting languages.

Our client are fairly open minded when it comes to technical experience, we are ideally looking for candidates with good proficiency in at least a few of these area: Cloudera-Hadoop ecosystem: Hive, HiveQL, HDFS, Impala, Oracle DB, PLSQL, SQL, Unix, AWS, Azure, Informatica, Business Objects, Pentaho DI, Pentaho BA, SAS 9.x, SAS Viya, PowerBI, Python, Talend, Denodo, Unix, Shellscript, Java, Javascript.

We see this as a really exciting opportunity, where the selected candidate will have an excellent opportunity to expand their technical experience and also work on various different simultaneous projects / solutions utilising different technologies.

Willingness / ability to work on other client sites occasionally is a must - usually Manchester, London or Southend. This can be for occasional meetings / over nights stays but may also require assignment for several months at a time.
