Data Engineer - Finance - Advanced AnalyticsBank / Fenchurch Street

£70,000 + bonus + benefits

Hadoop, Spark, Python / Java / ScalaThis global provider of insurance products are looking to add a strong Data Engineer to join their finance function. Working closely with other areas of the business (Underwriters and Actuaries), you will be provided with excellent opportunities for growth and expansion, including a sponsored programme aimed directly at growing you as a Data Engineer and progressing your career.The large volumes of data you will be working on comes from a variety of sources - whether that be customer and marketing analytics, internal, external, data scraped from online sources, current customers and their policies or even data that has been bought. This wide variety of data provides you with an ever changing workplace and a constant flow of work to get stuck in to, with the chance to work on both structured and unstructured data.The team currently works closely with the Data Scientists but there is a plan in place to create two teams in the near future. This split will create an increased learning environment as a Data Engineer and allow you to work much closer together as a Data Engineering unit, developing solutions that will have a direct impact on the business.Key requirements for the role:

- Embedding data solutions

- End to end data pipelines, data pipeline maintenance and Architecture (data delivery / ETL experience required)

- Experience in implementing Machine Learning models in Data Engineering

- Hadoop (other distributed environments) and Spark to run distributed jobs

- Programming language experience across any of Python, Scala, JavaThis organisation are currently moving much of their data from on-prem on to Azure Cloud, so any experience setting up and configuring environments both on-prem and on Cloud (Azure or AWS) is seen as an added advantage for the role.
