SC Cleared Safety Software Engineer

My defence client is recruiting for a Safety Software Engineer to join a team in Bristol on a 12 month contract, start date ASAP. A security clearance is required for this position and the role is inside IR35.

The Safety Software Engineer post requires a Software Engineer who has Safety experience:

* The Engineer needs to have at least 5 years of software development & test experience and at least 5 years experience in Safety Engineering.

* The candidate will be working on the software intensive Command & Control System technical development as lead Authority reviewer and safety auditor of the supplier.

* As a safety engineer they will be overseeing for the Authority that supplier software and Safety documentation complies with the Military Aviation Authority Regulations.

* The candidate will be reviewing supplier documentation, presentations and attending meetings where supplier evidence of Safety standards compliance is being checked and challenged.

* The candidate will have to provide detailed feedback to the contractor on the shortcomings in their approach and documentation and explain to them what additional information/methods need to be applied to bring their product and processes into compliance with the MAA regulations.

* The candidate will also be supporting the Authority's authorship of the Safety Case parts 3 and 4.

* In the first year of tasking the candidate can expect to be reviewing and supporting the first mature Release into Service Exposition (RiSE) document set and working with the MAA team to mature the RiSE document set to an acceptable standard to deliver the approval of the System Safety Case into Operational Service as an Air Traffic Management Service.
