A local council currently requires a Service Design Manager for an initial 3 month contract based in South East London, paying up to £500 per day via Umbrella.Main Purpose of RoleTo advise and support senior management across the Council on business planning, service design performance, data information and analysis. This includes driving innovation in service review, and redesign to effect cost reduction and improved service delivery.To co-ordinate and lead as appropriate with the relevant divisional Heads of Service on the Council's performance management and the use of data to drive service improvement and underpin service redesign.Experience RequiredLocal council delivery experienceSenior level management experience engaging at Chief Executive, Executive Director and Director levelExperience of managing at service group level with particular responsibility for performance covering the wide range of services in a local authority of large public sector organisation;Experience of working within and as part of a service management team;Ability to cover as appropriate for the wider duties and responsibilities from time to time.Knowledge of performance management systems and reporting tools.Evidence of having delivered effective performance measures and a performance culture that achieves objectives and drives up performance standards.Extensive experience of successfully delivering service redesign and change projects which improve customer focused service delivery and deliver savingsExperience of providing high quality and robust performance information for external inspections.Strong track record in delivering service improvements through the use of change management using design principles.Demonstrable experience of influencing and delivering change in a large complex organisation.A successful track record as a manager in a large, complex organisation preferably to be within the public sector.Demonstrable record of success in providing high quality service with experience in planning, managing and controlling complex workloads, and proven experience of managing major organisational and cultural changes in service delivery.Experience of strategic budget management, monitoring and control.
