About the role
Here in Babcock International we're looking for a Data Engineer to join an expanding Data, BI and Analytics team. As part of a major change within Business Intelligence and Analytics, you will be part of a team building a strong in house-capability to enhance the existing traditional business BI/Analytics, as well as growing the capability to support high end analytics within Big Data, Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence.
You'll be managing, designing and supporting the various BI platforms, including the existing BI platforms (Microsoft SQL 2017) as well as new ones based on Hadoop, Docker, Knime, Splunk and Python.
Design, implement, manage and administer Babcock's Analytic platforms and services, with the goal to deliver an open, secure, robust, scalable, reliable and high-performance solution
Work closely with the data, network, application and analytic teams to make sure all big data applications are highly available and performing as expected
Represent the Information and Insight team at meetings
Ensure that appropriate audit and security controls exist for data hosted and served from the platforms
Work with Data Sourcing teams to ensure data is loaded, maintained and available from the data platforms to meet the required availability, security and performance requirements
What experience do I need to do the role?
Microsoft Technology stack (supporting MS SQL 2016 or above)
Experience with Azure
Designing, running and troubleshooting unstructured data analytics platforms (working knowledge of this could be sufficient with the right technical background)
Detailed knowledge/familiarity with some of the following data related platforms or technology:
HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB
Middlewares and messaging systems
R, Python, Perl
What else do I need to know about the role?
You will work a 37.5 hour week Monday-Friday with flexible start and finish times
